The Angelika

The Angelica was a Greek ship tasked with transporting 4,400 tons of potassium chloride from Barcelona to the port of Marghera. On September 25, 1982, the ship was transiting the strait that separates Sardinia from Corsica, a stretch of sea still known as the "Strait of Bonifacio" and famous for the danger of its waters. That day, the Angelica requested access to the port of Santa Teresa di Gallura because of bad weather conditions. However, access was denied due to the toxic materials she was carrying. That same night, the ship ran aground on the Marmora rocks. Rescue ships were unable to refloat the hull, so they decided to clean up the ship and remove all the pollutants. The rest of the work was carried out by the waves, which, after breaking the ship into two parts, caused it to sink.

Today, the Angelica is one of the most beautiful wrecks in the coastal area of Capo Testa. The dive is within the reach of any diver, with a depth of 18 meters. Still partially intact, the ship is a spectacle of color and an unforgettable experience.
